Sugar content: 38 grams (per 12 ounces). However, in France, this drink was changed by removing 30 percent of the sugar and replacing it with Stevia, in 2012. In 2013, this spread to the United Kingdom, Ireland, and the Netherlands.

This change led to the drink containing fewer calories. A sugar-free version was first created in 1974.


Its most promotion revolves around how it keeps you fresh, and ”lymon” is commonly used to describe the flavor of this drink, a combination of lime and lemon.


In 1920, Charles Leiper Grigg launched his St. Louis–based company ”The Howdy Corporation” and formulated a carbonated orange-flavored drink (called – ”Whistle”). In October 1929, this drink was actually invented by C.L.Grigg.

It was formerly called ”Bib-Label Lithiated Lemon-Lime Soda” and included lithium citrate in its formula (C.L. Grigg hoped this would make this drink more healthy). Lithium, a mood-stabilizing drug, is used to treat the manic episodes of bipolar disorder.

In 2006, the version of the drink sold in the United States was notable re-formulated so that it could be marketed as being 100 percent natural.

The earliest advertising of this product described it as “a glorified drink in bottles” and featured a winged logo. In 1990, it was launched in India and Fido Dido, its international mascot, was used for advertising.
