15 Famous People With Dissociative Identity Disorder (Britney Spears & Nicki Minaj)

Dissociative identity disorder, also referred to as multiple personality disorder, is a complex psychological condition. Patients with this DID are commonly victims of severe abuse.

The major characteristic of dissociative identity disorder is a disruption of identity, in which a sufferer experiences 2 or more distinct personality states, according to the DSM-5.

Signs and symptoms of multiple personality disorder include:

  • memory lapses;
  • losses of time;
  • often being accused of lying;
  • blackouts;
  • having apparent strangers recognize them as someone else;
  • finding what seem to be strange items among one’s possessions;
  • feeling like more than one person;
  • feeling unreal.

Note – approximately 50% of adults in the United States experience at least one dissociative episode in their lives.

She is an American dancer, singer, and actress, and the driving force behind the return of teen pop in the late ’90s.

Some sources say Britney Spears has a number of other identities. For instance, there are some when she becomes the diva, the weepy girl, or some when she is the incoherent girl.

He is a well-known director, film actor, and producer, having starred in Hamlet, Braveheart, Patriot, Maverick, the Lethal Weapon, and Mad Max.

Some took this as a sign that he is dealing with DID when during a 2002 interview with the BBC, Mel Gibson said he has an alter-ego named “Bjorn.”

Lady Gaga suffers from DID, plus, she even has revealed that she divides herself – as one side of her physical body is tattooed, while the other is unblemished.

e also has this condition and wrote an autobiography, entitled – “Breaking Free.” It chronicles his struggle with this rare condition and how he has worked to harness it.

She is an actress who became one of the world’s biggest and most enduring sex symbols. She had symptoms which denote that Marilyn had DID, such as:

  • the presence of more distinct identities;
  • at least two of these identities regularly took control of her behavior.

#6 Kim Noble

She is a painter with long, auburn hair and startlingly blue eyes. She has DID with many distinct identities (the exact number is uncertain). These personalities are all distinct, with their own ages and names and quirks of temperament.

For instance, her primary personality is named – “Patricia.” Another, named – “Salome,” is a devout Catholic or “Ken,” a gay man. Moreover, “Judy” is an identity who comes out at mealtimes and thinks that she weighs 200 pounds.

She is a singer, rapper, model, and songwriter. When she was a child, Nicki was continuously around her parents fighting.

To get away from all these negative situations, Nicki would create “characters” in her mind and live her life through them.

However, some doctors were not entirely sure about her condition, and in August 1998, psychologist Robert Rieber challenged Shirley Mason’s diagnosis, claiming that she was just an “extremely suggestible hysteric.”

She is an American comedian, actress, television producer, and writer. Furthermore, Roseanne was the 2012 presidential nominee of the California-based Peace and Freedom Party.

In 1994, she first told the world that she has DID, and said that it is hard switching between “Somebody” and “Nobody.”

In 1987, she wrote a book, called – ”When Rabbit Howls,” an autobiography about her experiences after being diagnosed with DID.

In the late 1970s, he was an American citizen who was the subject of a highly publicized court case in Ohio.

After having committed a few felonies, Billy Milligan was arrested for 3 rapes on the campus of Ohio State University. In the course of his trial, psychologists diagnosed him with DID.

#14 Louis Vivet

He was one of the 1st mental health patients to be diagnosed with DID. It is thought that he developed other identities as a method to protect himself since his mother beat him and did not give him enough to eat.

#15 Chris Costner Sizemore

In 1950, Christine Sizemore was diagnosed with multiple personality disorder. Her case was depicted in a book and film, called – ”The Three Faces of Eve” by her psychiatrists, Hervey M. Cleckley and Corbett H. Thigpen.
