Hyperhidrosis, also referred to as sudorrhea, is a condition which is characterized by excessive sweating. The sweating can occur without any trigger at all or in unusual situations, like in cooler weather.

Hyperhidrosis typically occurs in people aged 25 to 64, but younger people may also be affected. This medical condition can happen in the:

  • feet (plantar hyperhidrosis);
  • armpits (axillary hyperhidrosis);
  • hands (palmar hyperhidrosis).

Symptoms

Symptoms of excessive sweating include:

  • excessive sweating which starts when you were younger than 25 years old;
  • sweating which interferes with your daily activities;
  • incidents of excessive sweating at least once every seven days;

  • malaria (mosquito-borne infectious disease);
  • leukemia;
  • hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid);
